Covenant Logistics (CVLG) Q3 Earnings and Revenues Beat Estimates

Covenant Logistics (CVLG) came out with quarterly earnings of $1.02 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1 per share. This compares to earnings of $0.56 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

This quarterly report represents an earnings surprise of 2%. A quarter ago, it was expected that this truckload transportation services provider would post earnings of $0.64 per share when it actually produced earnings of $0.96, delivering a surprise of 50%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates four times.

Covenant Logistics, which belongs to the Zacks Transportation – Truck industry, posted revenues of $274.56 million for the quarter ended September 2021, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 6.17%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $210.83 million. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates three times over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock’s immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management’s commentary on the earnings call.
