SEN. Risa Hontiveros called on the Supreme Court to dismiss for lack of merit the petition of fugitive pastor Apollo Quiboloy to stop the arrest orders against him.
The Court asked Hontiveros to comment on Quiboloy’s petition for certiorari and prohibition.
“Petitioner (Quiboloy) is in defiance of not one but two branches of government and is also making fools out of the executive branch’s law enforcement agencies,” Hontiveros said in her 53-page comment.
“It would be a mockery of the rule of law to allow an unapologetic fugitive to continue to evade both the judiciary and the legislative branches of government,” she added.
On March 19, Quiboloy, head of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, petitioned the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order against the implementation of the warrants of arrest issued by the Senate and two local courts against him for his alleged involvement in sexual abuse cases.
Hontiveros, chairman of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, held a series of public hearings on the reported cases of large-scale human trafficking, rape and child abuse involving Quiboloy and members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
