Council to create database of idle govt lands
MANILA, Philippines: MALACAÑANG recently issued an Administrative Order creating an inter-agency coordinating council that will consolidate the master list of all lands owned by the state.
Signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on April 30, AO No. 21 identifies one of the key strategies in the administration’s Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 which seeks to establish liveable communities as it rolls out “the creation of a database containing a complete inventory of idle government lands.”
“To ensure the efficient and effective allocation and utilization of land resources for the country’s national development goals, it is necessary to consolidate a comprehensive list of all government lands,” part of the circular read.
As ordered by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Coordinating Council shall be composed of the heads of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development as co-chairpersons while the Department of Agriculture will serve as vice chairman.
Members of the Coordinating Council are the Office of the Executive Secretary; Department of Interior and Local Government; DA; Office of the Solicitor General; Department of Justice; Land Registration Authority; Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Information and Communications.
The Land Management Bureau will serve as the secretariat of the Coordinating Council.
