Talitha Troupe, from Atlanta, appeared on a recent episode of the Pour Minds podcast alongside cohosts Andrea and Lex P – who do not disclose their last names.

The dating strategist had been discussing her personal standards when it comes to getting courted – before dropping the salary stipulation bombshell.

It sparked fierce debate in the comments as one person slammed Talitha’s viewpoint as being ‘sad and problematic on so many levels.’

In the exchange, Talitha boldly argued: ‘If you’re making $50,000, don’t date. I’m just being for real. You’re not ready to date because courtship costs. Everything costs.’

And it seemed as though the hosts agreed: ‘I’m with you, you’re right.’

Talitha continued: ‘You can go for 22 walks in the park. Eventually, shorty is going to need a sip of something. She gonna be thirsty.’

The cohosts let out a laugh as the guest insisted: ‘This bottle of water is three dollars in Atlanta. Let’s not play.

‘So if you don’t have any expendable cash, don’t date… You might only make $50,000, but you live in a shoe and now you got expendable cash.’

She continued: ‘Or get yourself a bottom of the barrel b**ch that’s gonna date you when you have no money.

‘If she doesn’t have the expectation and I’m gonna tell you this right now – enjoy it while it lasts, because eventually you’re going to want to run because she doesn’t stretch you.

‘She doesn’t make you the man that you need to become. She allows you to be this stagnant dude in the same jeans for days, you know what I’m saying?’

It was quickly flooded with thousands of comments by viewers sharing mixed reactions.

On the one hand, many did not agree with Talitha’s opinion.

One person wrote: ‘I dated a man making $45K a year when we started dating. With our drive and my support as his partner, he was making $100K a year later, $300K three years later.

‘By year five, he was clearing a million. Just to be clear, I am far from bottom of the barrel but ummmm ok ya’ll keep passing up good men based on CURRENT income status. Everyone has to start somewhere.’

Another person wrote: ‘I was broke for years when I first started out and my then-girlfriend, now-wife paid for everything. I just had a dream and ambition.

‘She helped me build my first company that turned into a multiple company enterprise. My average business makes a million dollars a year and my top business makes a million some days.

‘If you believe in your man, don’t miss out on your soulmate for money.’

A third person wrote: ‘$50K is regular and normal for normal people. Not everyone wants a Chanel bag.’

Another person added: ‘These women talking about dating a man that actually has a job and makes money but then judging his value off of $50K, yet most people in general don’t even have $1,000 saved for emergencies.

‘The audacity is real. What happened to connecting with people for their character traits and how they treat people? This conversation is exhausting.’

Another commenter added: ‘This is the worst advice I have heard! Everyone can’t make the money that they think everyone is making.

‘To shame another woman with another man’s pocket is crazy. It’s ok if you make $50K. [There’s] someone out here for everyone.

‘Why is a bottom of the barrel woman? What if she sees potential and he’s actually working to become better financially?’

Yet, on the other hand, there were still some followers who agreed with Talitha’s opinion.

One person wrote: ‘No lies told. A man shouldn’t date if he isn’t financially stable on a certain level. Especially in this day and age. Truth is truth.’

Another commenter wrote: ‘You right fellas. Get ya money up.’
