Audrey updates her family (Picture: ITV)
Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) has made quite the impact on Coronation Street since Sarah (Tina O’Brien) summoned him back to try to talk some sense into Audrey (Sue Nicholls).
His return has certainly cheered up Audrey, who has always got on well with Stephen – but in the midst of her happiness about having him back in Weatherfield she makes a huge decision that goes down like a lead balloon with the rest of the family.
After she’s discharged from hospital following her recent accident, Audrey decides it’s time to get her affairs in order and calls a family meeting. She announces she’s updating her will, news which makes David (Jack P. Shepherd) and Sarah suddenly extremely attentive about their gran as they fuss over her and try to make her comfortable. Surely they couldn’t be so blatant as to be thinking about how much they might be set to inherit from her?
If that’s the case, it looks like their efforts have been in vain, as she tells her family that she’s had her will amended so that her entire estate will be held in trust by Stephen after she dies – meaning that Stephen will have the final say on what happens to Audrey’s cash.
David is absolutely horrified, particularly when Audrey reveals that Stephen will be moving in with her at Grasmere Drive to look after her. It seems that Stephen’s feet are firmly under the table – and the Platts have been pushed out.
