Corona-Demonstration: Aggressionen vor dem Bundeshaus und eine Reverenz an Ueli Maurer

Die Szenerie bei Demonstrationen gegen Corona-Massnahmen wird dramatischer. Am Donnerstagabend entwickelte sich die Kundgebung auf dem Bundesplatz in Bern derart, dass sich Sicherheitsdirektor Reto Nause offensichtlich an den Sturm von Trump-Anhängern aufs Capitol in Washington erinnert fühlte. Die Polizei habe einen möglichen Sturm aufs Bundeshaus verhindert, twitterte er und dankte den Einsatzkräften für ihr Vorgehen.

Laut Mitteilung der Berner Kantonspolizei vom Freitag hatten Demonstranten an der Sperre vor dem Bundeshaus gerüttelt und versucht, die Gitter aus den Verankerungen zu heben. Zudem seien unzählige Gegenstände wie Flaschen und Holzscheite gegen das Bundeshaus und die Einsatzkräfte geworfen worden. Auch von Angriffen mit Feuerwerk und Knallpetarden berichtet die Polizei. Als Reaktion darauf setzte sie Wasserwerfer, Tränengas und Gummischrot ein und löste die unbewilligte Kundgebung auf.

Mit der Attacke auf die Sperre vor dem Bundeshaus sei eine rote Linie überschritten, sagte Nause am Freitag auf Anfrage. Der Berner Gemeinderat verurteile die Gewalt scharf und appelliere an die Massnahmen-Kritiker sich zu mässigen und ihren Protest nicht mehr auf die Strasse zu tragen. Er gehe nach wie vor davon aus, dass die grosse Mehrheit der Kritiker friedlich protestieren wolle, sagte Nause. Aber es sei jetzt deutlich geworden, dass es auch eine gewalttätige Minderheit gebe. Und wenn die Friedlichen sich um sie scharten, schafften sie damit die Voraussetzung, dass diese zur Tat schreiten könnten.

Auf seinen Tweet zum «Sturm aufs Bundeshaus» angesprochen sagte Nause, es sei seit Wochen bekannt, dass in einschlägigen Foren von Militanten solche Fantasien kursierten. Zudem sei der Zaun massiv beschädigt worden und es seien Schrauben gelöst worden. Er aber nicht spekulieren, was hätte passieren können, wenn die Sperre durchbrochen worden wäre. «Aber wer Werkzeug an eine Demonstration mitführt, hat bestimmte Absichten.»

Hauptanlass für die Demonstration war den Transparenten nach zu schliessen die Ausweitung der Zertifikatspflicht, die teilweise zum Impfzwang umgedeutet wurde. Neben Sprechchören wie «Liberté Liberté» war auch «Ueli Ueli» zu hören. Damit wurde zweifellos der Umstand gewürdigt, dass Bundesrat Ueli Maurer sich kürzlich symbolträchtig die Kutte der Freiheitstrychler übergeworfen hatte. Die Aktion sorgte in den vergangenen Tagen für einige Irritation bei jenen, die eine derartige Distanzierung von der Politik der Landesregierung gerade im aktuellen Umfeld für mindestens unangemessen halten.

Dem Aufruf zur Kundgebung in Bern waren mehrere tausend Personen gefolgt. Unter den Demonstranten befanden sich unter anderen die Freiheitstrychler, die Bewegung «Massvoll» und vereinzelte Exponenten rechtsextremer Gruppierungen. Versammelt hatten sie sich gegen 19 Uhr 30 auf dem Berner Bahnhofplatz. Bereits beim anschliessenden Umzug durch die Innenstadt, der den öffentlichen Verkehr zeitweise zum Erliegen brachte, kam es zu Handgemengen mit Gegendemonstranten. Auf dem Bundesplatz wurde ein Mann bei einer Auseinandersetzung verletzt, wie die Polizei schreibt.

Die Ausschreitungen spiegeln die sich verhärtenden und zunehmend mit Pathos aufgeladenen Debatten zum Umgang mit der Pandemie, in denen immer wieder auch von «Diktatur» die Rede ist. Das scheint wenigstens bei einzelnen die Bereitschaft zu radikaleren Aktionen zu fördern. Auch Nause stellte nach dem «x-ten Umzug» durch Bern fest, dass die Stimmung von Mal zu Mal aufgeheizter werde. Entsprechend werde ja auch seit Wochen darüber diskutiert, wie Politiker und Institutionen zu schützen seien.

Ruhe bewahrt hingegen Nationalratspräsident Andreas Aebi (svp., Bern): «Wegen ein paar Hitzköpfen lassen wir uns nicht aus der Fassung bringen.», liess er sich in den Tamedia-Zeitungen zitieren. Zusammen mit Ständeratspräsident Alex Kuprecht (Schwyz, svp.) kommentierte er: «Das Verhalten der gewalttätigen Demonstrierenden ist unschweizerisch. Wir besiegen das Virus nur, wenn wir alle Teil der Lösung sind.» Dass den Massnahmen-Kritikern an friedlichen Protesten gelegen ist, werden sie sicher noch bei zahlreichen Gelegenheiten unter Beweis stellen können – auch in Bern: Es kursiert bereits ein neuer Aufruf für eine Kundgebung nächste Woche.
