With Taylor Swift gearing up to play her last shows on the Aussie leg of her Eras tour, Swifties everywhere are keen to know one thing – what will the weather be doing for her four Sydney shows?

And while the 288,000 fans of the pop star’s three Melbourne shows were lucky to get a run of dry and sunny days, Sydney may not be so lucky, with some showers and storms forecast.

After a week of tumultuous Sydney weather, which even saw people struck by lightning on Monday, concert-goers can expect a more mixed bag forecast for the concerts at Accor Stadium.

FRIDAY NIGHT – FEBRUARY 23

Good news first. A top of 34C is forecast for Friday. Bad news? There is a 90 per cent chance of rain.

The high probability of showers and thunderstorms comes after a sunny morning, with wet weather most likely to hit in the afternoon and evening.

The Bureau of Meteorology predicts up to 15mm of rain could descend on the stadium at Homebush.

The advice then is to bring your poncho – but also your sunscreen. The UV rating is set to reach a high of 10 with sun protection recommended.

Light winds will become northwesterly, reaching speeds of 15-25km during the morning, then will turn southeast to southwesterly during the evening.

If Swifties are worried Friday’s show will be cancelled or postponed, history has proven the multi-Grammy winner doesn’t let wet weather stop her.

The last time the music icon performed in Australia in 2018, she sang and danced on stage in the rain in Sydney.

Swift’s Eras tour also had rain throughout an entire show in Massachusetts in May 2023.

‘Last night we all danced together in the rain for THE ENTIRE 3.5 HOUR SHOW,’ Swift wrote on X.

‘This was a full on deluge that never let up, I just want to thank that iconic crowd!! Love you so much you have no idea.’

SATURDAY NIGHT – FEBRUARY 24

Swifties attending Saturday night’s show will avoid the heat of Friday, with a top of just 24C predicted for the mega-star’s second Sydney outing.

However, there is a 70 per cent chance of rain – but most likely in the morning.

Southerly winds that will reach 20-30km will die down in the evening.

The UV rating is again very high, at 10, meaning Swifties who get to the venue early to soak up the atmosphere – or try to buy tickets – should wear sunscreen.

Bring your ponchos, Sydney. With a 90 per cent chance of rain and the possibility of a thunderstorm on Friday, Swifties should come prepared (pictured, Taylor Swift performing in rain at a Sydney concert November 2, 2018)

SUNDAY NIGHT – FEBRUARY 25

Temperatures should reach a high of 27C for the third night of Sydney’s Era’s tour performances.

With only a slight chance of a shower – 30 per cent – Sunday is looking better.

It will be partly cloudy with 15-20km northwesterly winds during the day.

MONDAY NIGHT – FEBRUARY 26

Swiftie ticket holders rejoice. Monday is forecast to be the best day of the four sell-out shows.

The temperature should hit a maximum of 27C and the day will be mostly sunny.

Although there could be a shower, there is only a 20 per cent chance it will rain.

Like Sunday, light winds will become east to southeasterly and reach 15-20km  during the day.

Taylor Swift’s Eras tour has been a global smash, with Babson College’s associate professor of management Peter Cohan estimating the songstress will personally earn $4.1billion.

Mr Cohan has based his figure on an average ticket price of $456, where Swift keeps the standard 85 per cent an artist generally claims of tour revenue.

If correct, this would be the highest pay cheque for any single music tour.

It is also more than the annual economic output of some countries, such as Liberia.

The sell-out tour has also impacted local economies.

According to NAB data, an estimated $174m was injected into Melbourne’s economy over the weekend the American star performed.

There was a 33 per cent surge in spending compared with the previous month.

NAB also said $86m of the Swift windfall went directly to the accommodation, hospitality and tourism sectors.
