As Covid-19 continues to disrupt education, an online conference will be held to identify solutions, reduce inequality, restore learning for affected students, while also push for a teacher development framework with education leaders from 11 countries.

Organised by the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) in collaboration with Unesco and Unicef, the “Regional Conference On Teachers And Equitable Education: All For Education In Southeast Asia” will set the stage for the exchange of ideas at the regional level, on Friday and Saturday.

The first day will commence with the 4th Princess Maha Chakri Award Ceremony 2021. The prestigious awards are bestowed on 11 outstanding teachers from 11 Asean countries and Timor-Leste by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, in recognition of their exemplary roles in changing students’ lives and contributing to education.

The princess will then deliver a lecture on her undertaking of building education opportunities for children and juveniles affected by Covid-19 and developing teachers and educational institutions in Southeast Asia.

The next day, the conference will become a stage for policymakers, experts, academics, and award-winning teachers from various countries, namely Southeast Asian countries, Finland, Japan, and the US, to brainstorm pressing matters.

The topics include lessons learned from each country’s efforts on equitable education mid-pandemic, case studies and educational innovation, methods to cope with students’ learning loss, a support system to help teachers overcome challenges, and management strategies for educational crises at the local and national levels arising from any dire situation obstructive to teaching and learning.

Also discussed will be the provision of systematic support for teachers in Singapore through professional development institutions and viewpoints from the US, Finland, and Japan to the development of social-emotional learning as well as other educational novelties.

The conference is in English and Thai. There is no registration fee.
