Xiaomi 14 Ultra debuts in China with new 1″ Sony sensor, four 50MP rear cameras

A couple of months after the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series in China and just a few of days ahead of its global debut at this year’s MWC, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has debuted in China. While it might not look too different compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra brings significant upgrades not just under the hood but also in the camera department, which is really where it shines.

Perhaps the biggest thing about the Xiaomi 14 Ultra both figuratively and literally is its cameras. Sporting a massive circular camera bump on the back, it is home to four 50MP shooters that should offer you impressive photography in just about every scenario. Starting off with its main camera, it uses the new 1″ Sony LYT-900 sensor with a variable aperture between f/1.63 to f/4.0 and uses Leica Summilux lenses over it.

That gets flanked by three other 50MP cameras all using the Sony IMX858 sensor. The first of those is an ultrawide shooter with an f/1.8 aperture, followed by a telephoto shooter offering a 3.2x optical zoom with an f/1.8 aperture while the fourth shooter on the back is a periscope zoom camera offering 5x zoom with a f/2.5 aperture. You can also opt for a new upgraded Photography Kit accessory from Xiaomi, offering a case and camera grip to attach to your Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Rounding things off is a 32MP, f/2.0 front facing camera for your selfie needs.

As for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s display, it comes with a 6.73-inch OLED panel, pushing a QHD+ resolution with a peak brightness of 3,000nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. You’ll find slight curves on all four sides, with a layer of Shield Glass over it for scratch and drop resistance. Just like its Xiaomi 14 series stablemates meanwhile, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 system-on-chip, with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It also comes with Android 14 out of the box, skinned with their new HyperOS over it.

Other features of note include a larger 5,300mAh battery with charging speeds of up to 90W for a full charge in just 35 minutes via a cable or 80W wirelessly in 49 minutes; 10W reverse wireless charging is also present. There’s stereo speakers too, along with an under display fingerprint sensor, two-way satellite communication and an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. A special Titanium Edition meanwhile upgrades the aluminium frame for one made of titanium.

There’s no international pricing or availability details just yet of course, but as we mentioned earlier you can expect both the previously-launched Xiaomi 14 series and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra to make its global debut at this year’s MWC.
