If all goes as per the plan, Kerala will see its first-ever private train service from June. If reports are to go by, Kerala is gearing up to introduce its inaugural private train service on June 4, departing from Thiruvananthapuram.

Reports have it that the train service set to be managed by SRMPR Global Railways Private Limited in partnership with Princy World Travels Private Limited, will be an initiative that is part of the Bharat Gaurav Yatra project by Indian Railways. With regard to this, Devika Menon, Director of Princy World Travels, added, “Thanks to our collaboration with Indian Railways, SRMPR has leased a train for tourist operations in Kerala, with Princy Travels overseeing ticketing and marketing.”

Reportedly, the inaugural train journey will head to Goa, with scheduled stops at Mumbai and Ayodhya. Passengers will also have an option to board this train from various stations, including Kollam, Trivandrum, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Thrissur, Kannur, Kozhikode, and Kasargode.

The said train will have 2 sleeper class coaches, and will have a capacity to accommodate around 750 passengers. Along with the 2 sleeper class coaches, the private train will also feature 11 third-class AC coaches, and 2 second-class AC coaches.

To manage the operations of the train journey, reports add that there will be a team of 60 staff, including medical professionals. They will ensure that those on board enjoy a comfortable as well as a safe journey.

As regarding the amenities that the said train will come equipped with are food, Wi-Fi, and GPS tracking will also be provided. There will be tour packages too offering star hotel stays, meals, and sightseeing opportunities.

Reports add that fares for a 4-day trip to Goa in the non-AC sleeper will start from INR 13,999, while those opting for 3-tier AC or 2-tier AC, the fare will increase accordingly.

Similarly, fares for a Mumbai trip range from INR 15,050 to INR 18,825. For the Ayodhya excursion, spanning 8 days and covering religious sites in Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Prayagraj, fares start from INR 30,550. It’s also interesting to note that children under 5, will be allowed to travel free, while those aged 5 to 10, will be required to pay half the adult fare.
