Robredo's Angat Buhay gets clean audit report

(UPDATE) FORMER vice president Leni Robredo’s Angat Buhay nongovernment organization (NGO) announced on Thursday that it received an “unqualified opinion” from its auditors.

Robredo made the disclosure after their auditor, SyCip, Gorres, Velayo & Co. (SGV), gave the organization an “unqualified opinion” (clean report) on its 2023 financial statements.

“In the midst of the busyness of this day, we received the great news that we were granted by our external auditor, SGV, an unqualified opinion for 2023!” Robredo wrote on Facebook on Thursday night.

By definition of the Commission on Audit (CoA), an unqualified opinion, also known as an “unmodified opinion,” is when the auditor “concludes that the financial statements are prepared, in all material respects, in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework.”

“In our opinion, the accompanying financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Foundation, as of December 31, 2023 and 2022, and its financial performance and its cash flows for the year ended December 31, 2023 and for the period June 24, 2022 to December 31, 2022 in accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards for Small Entities,” SGV stated.

Angat Buhay said they will continue to work for a public service with transparency and accountability for all Filipinos.

“This is one of the important steps that we are taking in ensuring our partners use their assistance correctly,” the NGO said on Facebook.
