columbia tornado tracker: twister to reach williamson counties, eagleville, and franklin in tennessee on alert
A giant tornado that prompted an emergency in Tennessee’s Columbia may likely reach Eagleville, Franklin, and parts of Williamson counties. The twister located east of Columbia was reportedly moving at 25 to 30 mph. This comes as several tornado and level 5 storm warnings are in place in parts of Tennessee Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service in Tennessee had declared a Tornado emergency. A large and extremely violent tornado swept through Spring Hill earlier today. Sirens went off in Chapel Hill and Eagleville as well. Residents in these cities were advised to stay alert and immediately seek shelter as this is a life-threatening situation. The tornado spotted in Columbia left significant damage.
Meanwhile, the weather agency warned of possible tornadoes through multiple alerts in Shelbyville, Lewisburg and Chapel Hill. “Tornado Warning including Shelbyville TN, Lewisburg TN and Chapel Hill TN until 7:45 PM CDT,” the NWS wrote through its official handles on social media.
The tornado previously landed in Maury County as well. Preliminary reports indicate that apart from the damages, a mass casualty incident was declared there. However, such reports cannot be confirmed at the moment.
