Colorado's opening game tickets vs. Nebraska are selling for a huge $1,030 with the cheapest seats priced at $342 - more than the Celtics-Heat Game 5 - as the Deion Sanders effect continues

Tickets prices for the University of Colorado at Boulder have reached highs of $1,030 for the school’s opening home game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

The massive ticket prices comes amid the hype around the team following the arrival of head coach Deion Sanders.

The cheapest tickets for the Buffaloes’ first home game of the season on September 9 are actually more expensive than the cheapest tickets on offer for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals series between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics.

Even before ticket prices for Sanders’ home debut skyrocketed his impact could be seen after season tickets sold out for the first time since 1996.

The team’s spring game also saw a massive turnout of 47,277 fans for the highly-anticipated scrimmage, after the stadium had been nearly empty the previous season.

Sanders arrived in Boulder after a very successful three years at Jackson State.

Jackson State with Sanders at the helm were 26-5, including an undefeated regular season in 2022.

Sanders led his Tigers to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) last season.

He also proved his massive pull on the recruiting trail, after inking the signature of No. 1 recruit and five-star cornerback Travis Hunter.

Hunter and a number of other prized recruits that Sanders got to play under him while at the much smaller HBCU have since followed him to Colorado.

And with Colorado’s Power Five resources now in the Pac-12, eyes will be on just how far he can take the Buffaloes, although expectations are not high for his first season in large part due to the massive turnover within the program.

Sanders has effectively cleaned house since taking over the school as at least 71 players have entered the transfer portal with many of them leaving after the spring game.
