Coca-Cola Amatil has urgently recalled a popular drink from selected supermarkets over contamination fears.
Food Standards Australia and New Zealand announced on Wednesday that Appletiser, a sparkling apple juice, in a 750ml size with the best before dates of June 1 and June 2, 2022, had been listed for a recall.
The juice has been available for sale at selected Woolworths stores in Victoria and Coles supermarkets in Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania.
The product was found to have an elevated level of microbial mycotoxin-patulin contamination, which Food Standards Australia and New Zealand said can cause illness if consumed.
The World Health Organisation states mycotoxins are naturally occurring toxins created by certain moulds that can be found in apples.
Those who purchased the apple juice have been urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Anyone who consumed the product and is worried about their health should ‘seek medical advice.’
