USA Wrestling Olympic Team Trials Press Event
The national wrestling media was introduced to the BJC’s edition of the Olympic Wrestling Trials this afternoon with a press conference featuring 4 athletes—2 of which included NLWC’s David Taylor and Penn State’s newly crowned NCAA Champ (and David Taylor’s long-time student at his M2 Wrestling Club) Levi Haines.
David spoke at length on his journey to have a chance to repeat as Olympic Champ, teared up when asked about his good friend Kyle Dake recently losing his father, and spoke on his relationship mentoring Haines. Levi talked about what makes Penn State great, and asserted his dodgeball prowess. Sunkist Kids (and ASU stand-out) Cohlton Schultz, and Kayla Miracle also reflected on their Olympic dreams and the joy of competing in this event.
After, press had a chance to ask more questions more intimately one-on-one, and we captured some great footage of Levi where he spoke in depth of the two’s relationship, what it’s like to train with so many hammers in his weight class, and whether or not he could join Dan Hodge and Zain Retherford as elite fruit-crushers.
