€55 M&S handbag dubbed 'viral' sensation looks just like iconic €18k designer Hermes Kelly bag

A social media fashion influencer is raving about a Marks and Spencer handbag that bears an uncanny resemblance to a designer Hermes Kelly bag – but costs a fraction of the price.

Content creator Ciara O’Doherty, who has over 185,000 followers on Instagram, showed off one of M&S’ newest accessories in a recent post on her TikTok account.

In her video, which has been watched over 61,900 times and has received 1,560 likes, Ciara said: “Will this be the newest viral bag from @Marks and Spencer. She’s giving Hermes Kelly energy on a highstreet budget.”

Ciara’s followers were as equally impressed with the bag, with one person commenting: “Looks like something Queen Elizabeth would carry.”

Another person, Bogdan Domnica Florica, wrote: “Just bought both colours. I love the style, simple and classic,” while Caoimhe O’Shea simply said: “She’s delish.”

M&S is selling the Faux Leather Top Handle Tote Bag for €55. This is over €17,900 cheaper than the famous Hermes Kelly bag Ciara references in her video.

As noted by Ciara, the M&S collection handbag shares a very similar design to the Hermes Kelly Sellier 28cm Bag in black Epsom Leather with shiny bits, which costs a whopping €17,990.

It was made by Robert Dumas, who was part of the Hermes family, back in the 1930s, but it got really famous when film star and Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly used it to hide her baby bump in the late 1950s. After that, everyone knew it as the Kelly bag.
