The recent surge in the stock’s value is attributed to the RBI’s approval for HDFC Bank to acquire up to 9.50 per cent of Yes Bank’s paid-up share capital or voting rights.

The stock has witnessed a robust uptrend following the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) approval for HDFC Bank to acquire a stake in the private lender, coupled with the State Bank of India’s rejection of a stake sale.

After a slight dip on Thursday, triggered by media reports suggesting SBI’s potential profit booking through a stake sale in block deals, Yes Bank shares rebounded by 4.6% on Friday, reaching Rs 31.40, as SBI refuted any such plans. SBI termed the reports as “factually incorrect” in a clarification issued on Thursday.

YES Bank’s net profit for the quarter ending December 2023, stood at Rs 231 crore. The Net interest income increased by 2.4% YoY to Rs 2,017 crore.
