Dylan Alcott couldn’t wait to have a beer after his retiring match at the Australian Open, cheekily conducting an interview with his water bottle full of the frothy stuff.
The 31-year-old was seen sipping out of the clear bottle he’d poured two beers in while discussing his wheelchair singles final loss with Channel Nine presenters on Thursday afternoon.
Alcott had gone down to Dutchman Sam Schröder on Thursday afternoon, losing in straight sets 7-5, 6-0.
The Aussie champ who was on Tuesday awarded Australian of the Year for his role in advocating for those with disabilities thanked those watching on from home and supporting him in his incredible career.

‘Don’t just watch me, watch all people with disabilities in all industries – sport, employment, dating, whatever it is,’ he said.
‘That’s what I’m all about and … um I’ve got beer in a water bottle, so I’m excited,’ he added holding up the bottle of beer.
Alcott was immediately applauded on Twitter for his post-match beverage, with many calling him a ‘true Aussie’.

At the start of the interview with Alcott, Dokic was seen overwhelmed with emotion as they commemorated the career of the wheelchair tennis great.

She wiped her eyes with a tissue as she leant over and held Alcott’s hand, saying ‘I love this guy’.
The former world number four Serbian-Australian was emotional earlier on in the Australian Open when she interviewed French star Alizé Cornet after she progressed to the quarter finals at Melbourne Park.
The on-court interview began and ended with the pair sharing warm hugs before Cornet paid a gushing tribute to her one-time opponent who has had recent mental health battles.

‘I just want to thank my box first, but also I want to tell you something, how you moved on in your life, I think we can all congratulate you,’ Cornet told Dokic.
‘You were an amazing player and now an amazing commentator, so bravo Jelena.’
The pair shared a heartwarming embrace as Dokic became choked up with emotion on air.
‘You just made me cry. I can’t believe I’m crying,’ she said.
