Check out this Winnipeg Jets superfan's 'hockey den'
This is a place most like to call the Swar bar, the Swar bar, Last name Swar. It’s the bar I’ve always dreamed of. It’s the dream bar for any Jets fans. How many people have you fit into this place? In the past, I want to say there’s been as many as 15 or 20 people down here, but I’d say comfortably about a dozen fit down here. When the old arena was getting demolished, obviously my dad needed to get a hold of a piece of the history that was from that building. And aside from the couple bricks that he took, he also managed to grab this chair. So must be, you know, do you feel, do you feel anything when you sit in that chair? Yeah, it’s special. You almost smell the, the old stale cigarettes and popcorn of the old arena. You know, I inherited a lot of stuff from family, friends, family members, and once I started putting stuff on the walls and collecting the stuff, anybody that came by would end up coming by again and bringing some kind of token to leave behind. I think the collection itself started before I even started collecting, and I inherited a few of them over the years. And then they just started amassing in a pile and I needed somewhere to put them. So here we’ve got them coming down into the S’more bar and they all again have a little story of their own, of how I came to get them or what they mean to me or who they came from. Welcome to my bathroom. They run out of space in the main area, so sometimes stuff’s got to migrate, got a a painting that I think everybody will remember and love, something that I specifically put here for the reason of being right above the toilet. So you everybody’s going to see it when they come in. This hockey card wall was an idea my wife had. I went through all of my personal hockey card collection from when I was a young boy and there is some absolute legends on this wall. Everyone loves it. I’ve had a handful of casual fans come by over the years, wives of friends, cousins, my wife’s family members and stuff, and everyone embraces it. It’s it’s part of the team vibe. It’s nice to be part of something. I couldn’t stop but notice these chairs. Like, I mean, these are amazing. Tell me about that. Yeah. So these chairs were the 1st wedding anniversary gift from my wife Lynley. And I’d say these are kind of a testament to her commitment to everything you see here, including myself. How do we go and beat the Colorado Avalanche? Yeah, good question. Recipe for success, like being part of any team is adhering to the system. Everybody’s got to be tugging on the rope the same way, and if there’s ever opposing forces, it doesn’t really help out to get to that goal. The end goal for The Jets would be winning the Stanley Cup and watching them over the last decade. Now I can say this is the best Jets team we’ve seen in Winnipeg and they have all the pieces to succeed.
