Dublin band VNXI is set to perform at the Oscar Wilde Awards next month, the US-Ireland Alliance has announced.

The awards will honour Pierce Brosnan, Molly Shannon and Richie Baneham at the casual Oscar’s week event which is held at Bad Robot in Santa Monica on March 7.

Organisers have now announced that the Dublin band – consisting of singer and guitarist Kurtis Wade Murphy, bass guitarist Noely Musgrave, keys and lead guitarist Andy L’Estrange and drummer Leo Cassandro – are set to perform on the night.

Trina Vargo, president of the US-Ireland Alliance, said that VNXI first played the event five years ago. Since then, they have grown and developed both in the US and at home in Ireland, with the help of many people they met through the Oscar Wilde Awards.

VNXI met actor Aidan Gillen through the event, and they made a music video together, drawing attention to the housing crisis in Ireland. The video was used by 12 homeless organisations internationally to raise funds domestically.

They’ve been featured at home on RTE, Virgin Media One and Hot Press, in addition to Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter in the US. This year they embarked on their first European tour, opening for US singer-songwriter, Joshua Radin and recently they signed a sync deal in the US with Joe Rangel at Hauler Music.

Vargo added: “They’re busy recording new music, we look forward to hearing it next month, and VNXI hopes you’ll be hearing it in some of your favourite shows, very soon.”
