MANILA, Philippines: Petro Gazz flaunted its form against Strong Group Athletics, nailing a dominating straight-set win, 25-12, 25-20, 25-12, on the opening day of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) 2024 All-Filipino Conference at the Phil Sports Arena on Tuesday, February 20.
Petro Gazz converted 42 attack points, while SGA only had 15 throughout the match.
Petro Gazz pummels SGA in PVL opener
After overpowering SGA in the first two sets, Petro Gazz continued to punish its opponent in the third frame as Myla Pablo showed no mercy and hammered a crosscourt kill, 25-12.
Outside hitter Nicole Tiamzon led the Angels with 15 points built on 13 attacks and two aces.
“I am very thankful to have the opportunity to play again. We are trying to get back on track also, and we are still working on our team chemistry,” Tiamzon told media after the game.
No SGA player scored in double digits as Dolly Grace Versoza only made six points, while Jan Angeli Cane registered four points.
