Kiccha Sudeep Pays Tribute To Dwarakish At Late Actor's Last Rites

Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath died due to cardiac arrest.

One of the most prominent Kannada actors, producers, and directors Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath, popularly known as Dwarakish, died on April 16 following a cardiac arrest. He was 81 and breathed his last in Bengaluru. Many renowned actors came to his last rites and paid their deepest respects including Kiccha Sudeep.

A video by the News18 Kannada shows Kiccha Sudeep walking into the hall where the Dance, Raja, Dance actor’s body was placed. Sudeep hugged Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath’s family members including his sons Giri Dwarakish Bungale and Yogish Dwarakish Bungale and comforted them. The Eega actor also put up a red garland over the casket of the late actor and exited the place following that.

A stalwart of the Kannada film industry, the 81-year-old had shown his exemplary acting skills in over 90 movies and produced and directed around 50 films. According to a report published in the Press Trust of India, “Morning, he had told his son that he was feeling tired and asked him to wake him up at 9 am. When he went to wake him up he did not respond”. Not only the film industry, tributes have poured in for the late actor from the political circle as well. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and many other prominent politicians have expressed condolences.

The Dance, Raja, Dance actor was short in height but he never let that become a hindrance in his path to accomplish popularity in the film industry. He became popular for his comedy roles. A diploma holder in mechanical engineering, the late actor made his debut in Tinsel Town in 1966 by co-producing the film Mamatheya Bandhana under the banner of Thunga Pictures.

He, however, rose to fame after being widely appreciated as a producer with his movie Mayor Muthanna starring Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar and Bharathi in the lead roles. He was also the man who introduced famous Hindi playback singer Kishore Kumar to the Kannada film industry with the song Aadu Aata Aadu.
