The Delhi Assembly on Tuesday passed a censure motion against the central government’s letter to the state government seeking permission to demolish 53 temples in the national capital.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dilip Pandey introduced the censure motion in the House.
The AAP MLA claimed that the PM Modi-led government at the Center has written a letter to demolish 53 temples of Lord Shri Ram, Lord Shri Krishna, Hanuman ji, Shankar Bhagwan, Durga Maa, Sai Baba.
He accused the BJP of breaking temples in Banaras and Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. He stated that now BJP is trying to destroy 53 temples in Delhi. Now, there is no other way in front of the top leadership of BJP but to apologize to the people of Delhi and the people of the country.
Supporting this censure motion, MLA Atishi alleged that the BJP’s lust for corruption is so much that they did not stop at the houses, shops and balconies, but the kind of notices being sent to the former were now also being given to temples.
Atishi alleged that BJP leaders have told the temple authorities that if they do not give them money from the donation box, then bulldozers would run on temple too. “The only reason behind this is BJP coming to power in MCD. It was there endeavor to make as much money as possible in the last few months. BJP’s lust for money is not being fulfilled by collecting money for putting in lanterns, now they have come to demolish 53 temples,” Atishi added.
Atishi further alleged, “There is a very small and simple thing behind this. The issue is that there is a BJP government in MCD for the last 15 years. In the last 15 years, since the BJP is in power, BJP leaders, BJP councilors, their workers, go from street to street and do extortion. The councilors and leaders of the BJP have been collecting money per-square-foot all over Delhi.”
Hitting out at the AAP leaders, BJP MLA Ajay Mahawar said the entire country knows who is in support of temples and who is interested in appeasement. “The issue of appeasement on which the Congress has failed is being done by the Aam Aadmi Party today,” he said.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Rambir Bidhuri congratulated the people of the country for the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya and the one in Kashi. Rambir Bidhuri, in the House, asked whether the AAP MLAs support the construction of temples in Vrindavan or not, to which the members of the ruling party said, “we support”.
