Sarah Vine says the Sussexes should be stripped of their titles to stop them 'shamelessly' monetising the Royal Family on YouTube talk show The Reaction

Prince Harry and Meghan should be stripped of their titles to stop them shamelessly profiting off the Royal family, according to the Mail’s talk show, The Reaction.

In the latest episode, out today, Mail columnists Sarah Vine and Andrew Pierce set their sights on Harry and Meghan’s new website ‘Sussex.com’ to ask whether the couple are trading off their Royal titles and are in breach their agreement with the late Queen.

Without the Royal family, Ms Vine said, Harry would simply be a ‘slightly thick, balding ex-soldier’ while Meghan would be a ‘moderately attractive, not very successful ex-actress’.

After sources close to the former working Royals tried to quash any furore over the naming of the website, Ms Vine added: ‘What really irritated me was that ‘their people’ responded to criticism… by saying that Sussex is their surname.’

Mr Pierce interjected: ‘It is a shameless way, in my view, to monetarize them by reminding the world that they are Royal.’

Ms Vine concluded that the Sussexes ‘should be stripped of their titles to finally put an end to this nonsense’ as their ‘currency is their association with the Royal family’.

In agreement, Mr Pierce said he believes that, to save the Royal family from further embarrassment, ‘the Firm’ shouldn’t ‘stop with stripping them of their titles’ and should also prevent their children from using Prince and Princess too.

As well as the Sussexes, the pair, who share their insight and views on the biggest topics of the day – no matter how contentious, discuss why it is seen as ‘cool’ to be anti-Israel, and their hatred of Valentine’s Day.

They are united in their condemnation of the ugly scenes when a ‘baying’ pro-Palestine mob gathered outside the home of Tory MP Tobias Ellwood this week.

‘I think there is a very fine line between legitimate protest and intimidation and I think those people crossed it,’ Ms Vine said.

Mr Pierce asked: ‘What is it about Palestine that incites the mob, and makes them turn with such vehemence and viciousness against Israel and anyone who supports the state of Israel?’

To which his co-host on the YouTube talk show replied: ‘It’s anti-Semitism, in just one word.’

She added: ‘There’s an element of it’s just kind of fashionable to support Palestine. It reminds me a bit of when I was younger and everybody thought Che Guevara was a really cool dude.

‘It’s the path of least resistance. If you say ‘I support Palestine’ people will go ‘yay’ because it makes them feel cool and it makes them feel like they’re on the right side.’

Ms Vine revealed she ‘hate Valentines Day’, believing a better way of showing someone you love them is by taking the bins out, unloading the dishwasher or not mentioning when your partner has put on a bit of weight.

She added: ‘This sort of awful thing where you go to Marks & Spencer or Tesco and get some sort of Valentine’s meal deal with a bunch of overpriced, overprocessed roses is just tacky and horrible.’

Last week’s episode, in which the Mail’s star writers discussed with Royal author Tom Bower why King Charles can’t reconcile with Prince Harry has been viewed more than 234,000 times.
