The UCLA Bruins have parted ways with the football program’s director of player personnel Ethan Young.

Young joined the Bruins staff in 2018 as the director of strategic intelligence working primarily with the offense.

He was promoted after one season and oversaw recruiting and the roster.

Per his LinkedIn account, Young says he has “Experience in Scouting, Building Boards, Roster Management, Transfer Portal Process, On the Road Recruiting, Planning and Hosting Official Visits, XOS Breakdowns, Automated Film Tagging, Game Planning, Contract Valuation, Trade Valuation, Size/Length/Athleticism Research, Biomechanics, Predictive Modeling, Data Aggregation, Spatial Tracking, and Running a Personnel Department of 20+ Staff and Students. Roster building is my wheelhouse!”

His LinkedIn still reflects his position with the Bruins but his social media accounts no longer list his position at UCLA in his bio which all but confirms his departure.

Before he worked at UCLA, Young worked for the NFL as a Next Gen stats researcher. He also spent two years at Bleacher Reporter as an NFL pro scout.

Looks like first-year head coach DeShaun Foster has another spot to fill on his staff ahead of the Bruins’ first season in the Big Ten.
