Maging si Alvarez ay naging COVID-19-positive early this year.

Pahayag ni Alvarez, “The Philippines is continuing the global movement not by force or arms or missiles, but through the persuasive power of arts and media.

“So if we communicate this and highlight to the world the inclusive, effective, cultural communications inter-face, inter-cultural of continents of working together, and really helping to stop violence against crime on Mother Earth.”

Kasama ng ng Earthsavers, which has been honored by UNESCO, pangungunahan ng kanyang team ang kauna-unahang event sa buong mundo na kikilala sa capability ng mga persons with disability, indigenous youth, at out-of-school youth.

“How can they be transformed into productive and responsible citizens using the art as effective values life-long learning.

Sa pagpatuloy ni Alvarez, “And we are very glad that we have as sub-partner, academic partner, Philippine Normal University.

“We were also told by DepEd through its Undersecretary for Partnership that they are really going to be fully supportive of this. Ito ang tinatawag nilang renewed program because of the new law for creative industry, Malikhaing Programa Para sa Kabataan. And that’s where we are providing partnership.”

Tungkol naman sa pagtaon ng event sa United Nations Human Rights Week, ani Alvarez, “Because what we are all fighting is equality, uh, opportunities, respect for cultural diversities, but unifying as one global community.

“And that’s what we are going to allow the world to see. Galing sa Pilipinas. And if they think Greece started the Olympic Games, they have to remember that Philippines which started this global cultural movement not by force but by heart and media.”

Ang Resiliart Earthsaving event ay organized by the Earthsavers UNESCO Artist for Peace and the Philippine Center of the International Theater Institute Social Change Network.

The event actualizes the roadmap identified in the May 2018 Manila Declaration for the Launch of the International Peace and Climate Justice Movement: Not by Force but by Art, under UNESCO Patronage.

Pinagtibay ang kasunduang ito ng November 2018 Cartagena de Indias SSCC Conference and at the December 2018 Katowice COP 24 through an international citizens art exhibition at the ART’s PLANET.
