Le Mystère Henri Pick : du roman au film

En 2019, le réalisateur Rémi Bezançon met en scène le film Le Mystère Henri Pick, adapté du roman éponyme de David Foenkinos, paru en 2016 avec Fabrice Luchini et Camille Cottin dans les rôles principaux.

L’intrigue se déroule entre Paris et la Bretagne. En effet, c’est dans une petite bibliothèque bretonne, qui a la particularité d’avoir une salle dédiée aux manuscrits refusés, qu’une jeune éditrice parisienne (incarnée par Alice Isaaz) met la main sur un manuscrit écrit par un certain Henri Pick, pizzaiolo du coin, décédé deux ans plus tôt. Et elle en est persuadée : c’est un chef-d’œuvre qu’il faut à tout prix publier. Le roman devient un best-seller, mais très vite, un critique littéraire (Fabrice Luchini) décide d’enquêter sur ce mystérieux auteur, disparu deux ans auparavant, et qui n’aurait, selon sa veuve, jamais écrit plus qu’une liste de courses.

D’après lui, ça n’est pas Henri Pick qui est l’auteur de ce roman, et il décide, tel un Sherlock Holmes, de mener l’enquête. Pour découvrir la vérité, il va faire équipe avec Joséphine (Camille Cottin), la fille de Monsieur Pick, qui entend bien protéger les derniers bons souvenirs qu’elle a de son père, tout en voulant, elle aussi, faire la lumière sur ce mystérieux roman.

Un redoutable jeu de piste

Le Mystère Henri Pick est un efficace film à énigmes, qui plonge le spectateur dans une mystérieuse histoire, avec pour personnage principal, un roman. Comme tout bon film d’enquête qui se respecte, les indices, disséminés de part et d’autre du récit, s’empilent pour que le spectateur s’interroge sur différentes hypothèses. Qui est vraiment l’auteur de ce mystérieux roman ? Henri Pick avait-il une double vie ? Des questions qui trouvent une réponse dans le surprenant dénouement final.

Lors de sa sortie en salles, le film de Rémi Bezançon avait su convaincre la critique et les spectateurs, à l’image de ses notes chez nos confrères d’AlloCiné (3,2/5 en presse et 3,6/5 en spectateurs).

Au box-office, il avait également connu un joli succès avec plus de 800 000 entrées au cinéma lors de sa sortie.
