Nick Saban
This fall, Nick Saban will not be on the sidelines for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be around the program at all.
Following his retirement from college football, Alabama Crimson Tide athletic director Greg Byrne announced that Nick Saban would hold an advisory role within the program in the future. And this week, Saban opened up about what the role will entail.
“Well, that’s our home, that’s our family, it’s our community. We’re going to continue to do things to help the community every way that we can,” Saban said during a media availability in Birmingham for the Nick Saban Legacy Awards. “The coaches all know that I’m available if they need me in any way, shape or form to help them. I talk to [new head coach] Kalen [DeBoer] every now and then and talk to the defensive coordinator [Kane Wommack] every now and then. He’s going to come over and meet me this week sometime. We’re around. We’re there to support the players in any way that we can to help them be successful.”
In addition to this role, Saban will also be joining the cast of ESPN’s College GameDay as an analyst. So he’ll be staying busy in retirement.
