With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the survey was conducted by the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department to design a project to reduce congestion and facilitate trade at the port of Cat Lai.
USAID Vietnam Director Michael Greene expressed hope that this project will be implemented on a large scale and pledged to support the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department.
The director of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, Dinh Ngoc Thang, recalled that his Department had started to seek to develop this project in 2019 with the aim of reforming customs procedures in logistics activities and reducing congestion of goods to the port of Cat Lai, thereby helping to improve national competitiveness and sustainable economic development.
Placed at 34 e As a world-class freight warehouse, the Port of Cat Lai had a handling capacity of over 5 million TEUs in 2019. With 13000-14000 containers per day, the port records annual growth of over 10% . VNA /CVN
