Minecraft 1.21’s Upcoming Breeze Mob Explained

  • Minecraft’s upcoming 1.21 update is set to introduce a significant amount of new content, including structures, mobs, resources, and personalization options.
  • The new Breeze mob is one of the highlights of the 1.21 update, offering a challenging experience within complex Trial Chamber structures. It behaves like a wind-oriented version of the Blaze mob.
  • Dealing with the Breeze mob requires strategy, as it has a higher health pool and fast mobility. Using a shield and deflecting wind charges back at the mob are key tactics to take it down, but facing a large number of them can be overwhelming.

The already massive amount of content that falls under Minecraft’s gameplay experience is set to be bolstered even more with the upcoming introduction of the 1.21 update. Set to release at some point during mid-2024, Mojang has already been quite transparent in terms of letting fans know what new experiences they can expect with 1.21.

The 1.21 update for Minecraft will bring new introductions to structures, animals, hostile mobs, resources, and personalization, with it already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated updates in recent memory. One of the most intriguing currently-confirmed aspects of 1.21 is the new Breeze hostile mob, which is set to offer a huge challenge within one of the most complex structure-types that Minecraft has ever seen.

Minecraft 1.21: The Breeze Mob is a Force to be Reckoned With

It is easy to get swept away by the sheer amount of content that is set to come with Minecraft’s 1.21 update. As things stand, the following features are confirmed to be coming with 1.21 in 2024:

  • Copper block variants
  • Trial Chamber structure
  • Breeze hostile mob
  • Armadillo passive mob
  • Wolf Armor
  • Crafter block
  • Tuff block variants

While it is exciting to look at all this content as a collective, taking a closer look at these individual additions gives a much more informed idea of just how game-changing the 1.21 update may be. For example, the Breeze mob is set to be found in the new Trial Chamber structures that will be introduced with 1.21, being underground randomly-generated labyrinths with a level of difficulty and loot that scales with how many people choose to tackle a Chamber as a team.

As the name suggests, Trial Chambers are gearing up to be a real challenge even for the most seasoned Minecraft veterans, and Breeze mobs are set to play a huge role in defining the Trial Chamber experience. The Breeze is a wind elemental creature, behaving and looking much like a wind-oriented version of the iconic Nether-dwelling Blaze mob of Minecraft.

Certain Trial Spawners will flood rooms with Breeze mobs, who have a health pool around 30% larger than standard hostile mobs such as skeletons and zombies. The Breeze possesses a huge range of mobility thanks to its wind powers, being able to cover large distances quickly and knock players back with devastating wind charges. These wind attacks can also trigger things like buttons and levers within a certain radius, likely causing chaos within the booby-trapped rooms and hidden complexes of Trial Chambers.

Dealing with Minecraft’s Breeze Mob Requires Strategy

With a fairly high health pool and lightning-fast mobility, dealing with Breeze mobs in the dimly-lit rooms of Trial Chambers may be a real challenge. With the Breeze constantly being surrounded by a swirl of wind, the mob is immune to projectiles like arrows and thrown tridents, greatly limiting the avenues of attack that are available to players.

While the Breeze’s primary attack, the wind charge, does not deal direct damage to the player, it poses the real threat of causing significant fall damage by throwing players through the air or by pushing them off ledges. This is the main source of attack that players need to be wary of, with wind charges acting as a projectile – similar to the fireball projectiles launched by Minecraft’s Ghast mob.

This means that a shield will be a must-have piece of Minecraft equipment when facing Breeze mobs within 1.21’s Trial Chambers, with players also being able to hit incoming wind charges to send them flying right back at the Breeze itself. This, combined with sensible melee attacks, should make short work of the Breeze, but in great numbers, it is clear to see how overwhelming the new mob may be.
