Senior citizen dies after lorry collides with his car in Yong Peng
BATU PAHAT: A 69-year-old man was killed after his car collided with a lorry at Jalan Muar-Parit Yaani, Yong Peng, here.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said police received information about the accident at 9.20am on Saturday (Jan 27).
“The victim, identified as Shahril Abu, was looking for a place to have breakfast around the area of the incident.
“The victim had tried to make a right turn before a pickup truck driven by a 31-year-old man crashed into the back of the victim’s vehicle.
“The impact caused the victim’s car to enter the opposite lane, causing the vehicle to collide with an incoming lorry driven by a 23-year-old man.
“The crash caused the victim to be pinned inside the car before the vehicle got hit again by another oncoming vehicle from the pickup truck direction,” he said in a statement.
The victim suffered a serious injury and was pronounced dead at the location, he added.
The body had been brought to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for a post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
