‘At least this time he should stick to his word’: Tejashwi Yadav after Nitish Kumar said he will remain with NDA forever
NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav criticised chief minister Nitish Kumar for his frequent switchovers and emphasised consistency and asked him to stick to his word.
“We wish him (Nitish Kumar) all the best. This time he said that he would remain where he is. At least this time he should stick to his word,” Tejashwi said.
This statement came after Nitish, in the Aurangabad rally, on Saturday assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he will not leave BJP’s side, highlighting their longstanding partnership since 1995. “You (Modi) had come to Bihar earlier as well but I disappeared (from NDA) for some time. Now I am again with you and assure you that I will remain with the NDA forever,” Bihar CM said.
Kumar who again came back as CM has a history of shifting political alliances. In 2013, he parted ways with the NDA due to disagreements regarding the BJP’s choice for the PM candidate and resigned. However, he later formed a grand alliance with the RJD and Congress, becoming Chief Minister once again in 2015.
In 2017, Nitish Kumar severed ties with the grand alliance, citing corruption allegations against the RJD and a decline in governance. The following year, he reunited with the BJP, only to break away again in 2022, accusing the party of conspiring against him. Throughout his political journey, Kumar has demonstrated his ability to adapt to changing circumstances, making him a key player in Bihar politics.
Nitish Kumar’s leadership has been marked by both loyalty and adaptability. Despite facing criticism for his frequent changes in political allegiance, he remains a significant force in Bihar politics. The upcoming years will prove crucial for Kumar and his alliance with the BJP-led NDA, as they continue to navigate the complex landscape of Indian politics.
