Putin may not hesitate to attack NATO, German intelligence chief warns

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin did not shy away from attacking NATO. If Ukraine were forced to surrender, it would not quench Russia’s thirst for power, states the head of the Federal Intelligence Service of Germany (BND), Bruno Kah.

“If Ukraine were forced to surrender, it would not quench Russia’s thirst for power. If the West does not demonstrate a clear readiness to defend, Putin will have no reason not to attack NATO anymore,” he says.

Kahl warns that Putin’s goal is to restore the former power and greatness of Greater Russia.

“It will be terrible if this readiness to use force prevails in foreign policy, and Europe capitulates to it,” warns the head of the German foreign intelligence service.

He is skeptical about a change of power in Russia.

“He firmly sits in the saddle. Even if he fell out of the window or suffered in some other way, there would be enough people who think the same as he does and would pursue the same policy,” he says.

The head of the BND adds that there are no signs that the situation will change immediately, for example, through democratically legitimized forces.
