Oran Kearney says Glentoran drubbing may signal the end for some in a Coleraine shirt

oran kearney says glentoran drubbing may signal the end for some in a coleraine shirt

Coleraine manager Oran Kearney

Oran Kearney has issued a blunt response to Coleraine’s 6-0 hammering at Glentoran saying it may be some players last game for the club.

The Bannsiders are in the midst of an awful run having lost their previous five game before heading to The Oval, but Kearney admitted even he did not see the game unfolding in the way it did.

A defensive mix-up allowed the Glens to score inside the first minute with things deteriorating as the game wore on.

Kearney said it was “a tough one to take” but he still has faith results will turn as players return from injury, but for others they could be heading for the Showgrounds exit door.

“There are guys who have had lots of opportunities this season, a lot of opportunities that they wouldn’t normally have had, and sadly, and I’ve said it in there, they haven’t taken those opportunities,” said Kearney after the game.

“There’s guys in there possibly who might not step on a pitch again for Coleraine and sadly that’s the nature of the scenario we find ourselves in.

“For me, and there’s been lots of it in the past couple of weeks, people are quick to judge, people are quick to make interpretations and there’s been lots of goading in all shapes and form.

“I’m 100 per cent crystal clear where we’re at at this point in time and I know exactly what it will take to move us on and to get us through and I know that’s not far away.

“It’s been a tough period for players, it’s been a tough period for me and for everybody.

“The size of the defeat is a really tough one to take where we’re down to the same thing of individual errors.

“It’s great when people take responsibility and put their hand up but I don’t think Glentoran have had to work extremely hard here for their goals, particularly the early goals.

“I think the first four in particular were all moments of madness really, that’s maybe the best way to describe them where we don’t even give ourselves half a chance to get up and running.”
