Tottenham have reached agreement with Bayern Munich for the loan of Eric Dier for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the move permanent.

Dier completed the shock move to Bayern on loan with an option to buy for £2.5million on Thursday, just six months after his close pal Harry Kane arrived.

The announcement came just one day after the Tottenham defender arrived in Germany to undergo his medical with Thomas Tuchel‘s side.

Tottenham confirmed the news through their official social media page, while Dier shared a video thanking the Spurs fans for their support during his time at the club.

The 29-year-old defender said: ‘I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone associated with Tottenham football club.

‘From all the staff at the training ground, at the stadium, in the community, the players, the coaching staff, all the managers that I’ve had along the way and the chairman.

‘To everyone who is part of the club and then obviously my team-mates throughout the time I have been at the club. The support you have given me and the relationships we’ve built, I couldn’t ask for a better dressing room to be part of for the last nine and a half years.

‘It’s been incredible to share that with you. Obviously the fans. It’s been a hell of a journey. The way I was received from the moment I came has been incredible.

‘The one thing that always sticks out to me is the fact everywhere you go in the world, there seems to be so many Tottenham fans. That always seems to amaze me.

‘So I just want to say a big, big thank you to all of you for all of the support you have shown me. I hope you can experience great success with the club moving forwards.

‘I’ll be watching, supporting and hoping for the same. I hope to see you all soon. I am extremely grateful to have had these nine and a half years.

‘Tottenham has been a part of my life and my family’s life for so long. It will forever hold a special place in my heart.’
