Buaya tembaga 300kg ditemui di pantai resort Felda Sahabat

LAHAD DATU – Seekor buaya tembaga berjaya ditangkap selepas dilihat berada di kawasan pantai resort Felda Sahabat di sini pada malam Isnin.

Dalam kejadian kira-kira jam 11 malam itu, buaya jantan seberat kira-kira 300 kilogram dengan panjang lebih tiga meter serta lebar lebih satu meter itu berjaya ditangkap oleh sepasukan anggota Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM).

Menurut seorang penduduk, Asmat Duraman, 33, kehadiran reptilia itu disedari ketika dia sedang membuat rondaan di kawasan pantai berkenaan.

“Ketika sedang membuat rondaan, saya sempat memberi ingatan kepada seorang penduduk yang sedang mencari ketam di kawasan itu supaya berhati-hati kerana kawasan itu memang ada buaya.

“Tidak lama kemudian, penduduk itu memaklumkan terlihat seekor buaya dan selepas diperiksa memang benar haiwan itu berada di kawasan berkenaan,” katanya ketika dihubungi Sinar Harian pada Rabu.

Bimbang dengan keselamatan penduduk, Asmat yang juga bertugas sebagai polis bantuan Felda berkenaan bertindak menghubungi pasukan APM untuk mendapatkan bantuan.

“Kawasan ini memang ada buaya dan kehadirannya dikesan sejak tahun 2013 lagi. Saya juga bimbang haiwan ini bertindak agresif kerana sebelum ini pernah berlaku penduduk diserang buaya.

“Walaupun tidak melibatkan kematian tetapi ia tetap berbahaya,” katanya.

Sementara itu, jurucakap APM Sabah berkata, pihaknya menerima panggilan berhubung kejadian itu pada jam 11.25 malam dan sepasukan anggota dikerah ke lokasi.

“Sebaik tiba, usaha mengeluarkan haiwan itu dari dalam parit saluran air resort segera dilakukan dengan menggunakan jerat perangkap tali.

“Haiwan itu kemudian berjaya ditangkap dan operasi ditamatkan pada jam 2.11 pagi Selasa,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, haiwan berkenaan diserahkan kepada Jabatan Hidupan Liar (JHL) Sabah untuk tindakan selanjutnya.
