A video of a four-year-old Korean boy’s heartfelt confession about yearning for more connection with his parents has gone viral on TikTok, drawing sympathy from netizens.

In the video which appears to be a clip from a popular Korean reality television show called “My Golden Child”, the young boy named Geum Ji Eun answered questions from an interviewer about his parents.

He bravely opened up his feelings, expressing a sense of loneliness and wanting his parents to play with him more often.

“Who do you like more?” asked the interviewer.

“I don’t know, I am alone at home. No one plays with me,” he answered.

When asked about his dad, Geum Ji Eun recalled that his dad can be “scary when he’s mad”.

“I wish he can talk to me nicely,” said the young boy.

He also felt that his mother doesn’t favour him, which led to him holding back his tears in the video.

When asked if he ever conveyed his feelings to his mother, he responded by saying that she never listens and that he wishes she would play with him more.

Many praised the boy for being honest about his feelings, while others felt he shouldn’t be treated that way by his own parents.

“This is so hurtful, he doesn’t deserve that pain,” commented a user.

Another wrote: “You can tell he’s not allowed to cry by his parents, that’s why he suppressed his feelings and held his tears so well.”

Nevertheless, it seems that additional snippets from the show have emerged on TikTok, showing a more positive outcome for the young boy following his emotional confession.

In the clips, his parents appeared to spend more quality time with him.

But TikTok users were quick to express that they hope the happy ending isn’t just for show to avoid criticism from viewers and that they continue to shower him with love and kindness.

Understandably, the demands of juggling work and family in this modern era may pose challenges, however it serves as a reminder of the crucial role parents play in shaping a child’s childhood memories, sense of security and happiness.

My Golden Kids is a reality show where parenting experts provide tips and guidance for struggling parents.
