On 26th January 2024, Klopp announced that he will be leaving Liverpool after a 9-year tenure in England. He has decided to take a break from the game as he is ‘running out of energy’ and it’s getting harder for the 56-year old to do the job ‘again and again’. The former Borussia Dortmund coach also made it clear that in the near future he wouldn’t manage any other team in England apart from the Reds of Merseyside. Klopp turned the fortunes of Liverpool, who were struggling to stamp authority in England and in Europe for years. Promoting Mainz To The Bundesliga

Klopp’s first managerial assignment was with the club he spent nine long years as a player. As a player he featured in almost 350 games for Mainz and the club entrusted him the duty of leading the club back in 2001. He spent seven years at the club and promoted the side to the first-tier German Bundesliga in 2004-05 season. He led the side to a 3rd place finish in the 2003-04 season to gain promotion. Mainz’s best finish under him in the first division was 11th.

Back-to-Back Bundesliga Wins With Borussia Dortmund

Klopp joined Dortmund at the starting of the 2008-09 season. It was in 2010-11, he led BVB to a league title win after a gap of nine long years. He again did it in the following season, making him a force to be reckon with in the football world. This was the only league titles Dortmund won under Klopp. Apart from the Bundesliga title, Dortmund went onto win two DFL Supercups, DFB Pokal 2011-12 and a UEFA Champions League runners-up finish in 2013.

Leading Liverpool To Premier League Title After 30 Years

Kloppo joined Liverpool midway through the 2015-16 season. His task was to revamp the Reds and make them contenders for the league title, a trophy they won last in 1989-90 season. The Reds have to wait for another 5 years before they could celebrate as Kings Of England. During the Corona era of the 2019-20 season, the Merseyside Club became champions with 99 points. This led to Klopp winning the Premier League Manager of the Season. He also won the Manager of the Season in the following season as well. Jurgen Klopp already lost one Champions League final during his time with Borussia Dortmund. It was an all-German final between Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
