Brian To'o on extended bench for Penrith

Penrith are dealing with the aftershock of a brutal win over Parramatta with several stars nursing injuries ahead of their NRL preliminary final clash with Melbourne.

Brian To’o (ankle), Viliame Kikau (knee) and Dylan Edwards (foot) all trained with the NRL team on Tuesday.

But NSW winger To’o remains in the most doubt for the grand final qualifier for which the Storm are at full strength for Saturday’s clash.

The powerful winger was a late withdrawal from Saturday’s 8-6 semi-final win over the Eels with an ankle injury and has been named on an extended bench as a chance to play the Storm at Suncorp Stadium.

He will be given every chance to take the field but will need to pass a series of tests, with Brent Naden named in his place on the left wing.

Five-eighth Jarome Luai said on Tuesday that To’o had trained with the team and was in high spirits.

“He’s looking good, he was training with us today as well and hopefully he gets through the next couple of tests throughout the week and he’s sweet to play,” the Blues star said.

“Everyone trained today, Kiks (Kikau) is still sooking about his cut a bit, but he’ll be sweet this weekend, the boys are pumped.”

Fullback Dylan Edwards was a welcome return for the Panthers in their semi-finals after missing the week earlier with a foot injury he’s managing.

“I’m good, I’ve got a foot niggle going on a little bit still but it’s travelling all right so there’s no dramas there,” he said.

The Panthers appear relaxed about their injury concerns but their brutal contest against the Eels comes right before facing a Storm side that is expected to be at full power.

NSW Origin star Josh Addo-Carr will return from a hamstring injury in the grand final rematch after missing the last round of the season and week one of the finals with the complaint.

Both Manly and South Sydney have named unchanged teams ahead of their Friday night clash at Suncorp Stadium.

The Sea Eagles have no injury concerns after their 42-6 win over the Sydney Roosters while the Rabbitohs are fresh after a week off heading into their fourth consecutive preliminary final.

The two sides haven’t played each other since round two earlier this season but Rabbitohs skipper Adam Reynolds says they’re ready to knock off Manly again.

“It was four or five months ago. We watched a bit of vision the other day of that, and both teams are miles apart from where we were back then,” he said on Tuesday.

“It’s certainly going to be a tough game, we know we’re going to be up for a tough challenge but it’s one we’re looking forward to.”
