San Francisco 49ers running back Trenton Cannon left the field in an ambulance after colliding with one of his teammates on the opening kickoff of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Cannon, who was on the kicking team for the Niners, came down the field to try to make a tackle on the Seahawks returner. Unfortunately, he overshot his target and missed on a low tackle.
After sliding by the returner, Cannon’s head collided with the knee of one of his teammates, Talanoa Hufanga. When the running back impacted Hufanga’s leg, his neck snapped back and he went to the ground.
The medical staff rushed out to Cannon soon after the impact as he lay on the field. An ambulance and stretcher were also brought into the stadium. Reporters on the scene at the NFC West game shared that they witnessed Cannon move his left arm before he was carted off the field.
Shortly after Cannon left the stadium, the 49ers announced that he would miss the remainder of the game with a concussion.
