Braves trade Luis Guillorme to Angels (UPDATED)
It appears that changes are coming to the Atlanta Braves’ bench. The Braves are trading infielder Luis Guillorme to the Los Angeles Angels according to a report by Daniel Alvarez-Montes. The return is unknown at this time and neither team has officially announced the move.
Guillorme signed a one-year major league contract with the Braves during the offseason. He’s played sparingly though appearing in just 10 games while going 3-for-20 at the plate. Most of that playing time came while Ozzie Albies was on the injured list due to a fractured toe. He last appeared in game on May 4 as a pinch-hitter against the Dodgers. That was his first appearance since April 24.
With David Fletcher at Gwinnett, the Braves had some flexibility with their backup infield spots.
UPDATE – The trade is now official with the Braves receiving either a player to be named later or cash in return from the Angels. The move opens up a 40-man roster spot and a spot on the active roster that will be filled before Friday’s series opener in New York.
