T.J. Hockenson upset with NFL, Kerby Joseph over torn ACL
OTAs for the Minnesota Vikings are underway and the 2024 season is “officially” underway. This is the first time that the team will get together in preparation for the start of the 2024 season. Phase one just involves meetings and workouts but it’s the beginning of the process.
On day one, multiple players and head coach Kevin O’Connell spoke to the media about multiple topics. One of them was T.J. Hockenson who is currently recovering from a torn ACL. He expressed his frustration about the hit that Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph made on him that caused the injury.
“I would’ve much rather gone down with a concussion for two weeks than have to deal with this for nine months.”
He wasn’t just upset with Joseph but also blamed the league for the rules that incentivize players to hit low rather than high. That in itself is an unintended consequence of the rules because players are going to change their hitting style.
Now, this was just the first hit that Joseph made which caused a torn ACL, as he hit Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee with the same type of hit that caused the same injury.
Will anything change from the NFL? Not likely. However, it’s worth noting that players are starting to comment on these injuries.
