Boy George 'was not worth £500,000' to the I'm A Celeb camp and it is Seann Walsh's turn to be evicted, former contestant FATIMA WHITBREAD tells Jungle Confidential

Fatima Whitbread think Boy George was a 'good asset' but not worth his huge feeThough the former contestant praised the popstar for being 'true to himself' The ex-javelin thrower believes that comedian Seann Walsh will be next to go

Fatima Whitbread, who finished third on I’m a Celeb in 2011, told Jungle Confidential that Boy George was a ‘good asset’ but not good value for money.

The former athlete, 61, said the popstar ‘did a good job’ bringing controversy and drama to the camp, but left a bit early to justify his reported £500,000 fee.

Jungle Confidential, our daily video podcast about all things I’m a Celebrity, is available Monday-Friday on MailOnline, and on our YouTube channel. It will also be available as a podcast via all your favourite streaming services and Mail+, completely free.

Fatima told podcast host Katie Hinds people tune in to watch camp life and see celebrities be themselves and ‘is really what people tune in for’ and that Boy George ‘brought that to the camp’.

She said: ‘He was quite controversial. He said what he thought. He was true to himself, and behaved how he would normally behave when he was at home.’

Fatima continued: ‘Whether you liked him or not. I thought he was a good asset within the camp.

‘I’m not saying half-a-million pounds worth, but at the same time, you know. I mean he did a good job, I mean no less than anybody else in that camp.

The retired javelin thrower shared her thoughts on who should be eliminated next, and believes that it is comedian Seann Walsh’s ‘turn to go’.

Fatima, who finished third when she appeared on I’m A Celeb, also predicted her last three as Mike Tindall, Jill Scott and Owen Warner – who she described as a ‘good lad’.

She added: ‘I wouldn’t put Matt amongst those last three on principle.’

Fatima also said she would have felt uncomfortable if she was in the camp with Mr Hancock and that she thinks other campmates will have felt the same.

Stuck in Oz: The singer, 61, was voted off the show on Tuesday night, and is 'desperate' to go home but is contractually obliged to stay in Australia until the ITV series has ended

Stuck in Oz: The singer, 61, was voted off the show on Tuesday night, and is ‘desperate’ to go home but is contractually obliged to stay in Australia until the ITV series has ended

Boy George has been refused permission to fly back to the UK from Australia after the homesick star demanded a waiver from the I’m A Celeb final.

The diva-like singer was voted off the show on Tuesday night, and is ‘desperate’ to go home but is contractually obliged to stay in Australia until the ITV series has ended.

He also snubbed doing ITV’s post-exit interviews, failing to make an appearance on any of the channel’s morning shows the day of his eviction.

Sources close to the Karma Chameleon star told MailOnline: ‘He wanted to go home immediately, he doesn’t want to hang around.’

They continued: ‘If he had his way he would be on a plane already but he wasn’t allowed to do that.

‘His aim of going into the jungle was for the world to see the stripped back version of him, no hair, makeup, costumes, or hats – he didn’t actually care how far he went in the competition.

‘The fact he has to stay in Australia for days now is an annoyance to him, he isn’t fussed about sticking around for the final but that’s what he has to do.

‘He’s travelled across the world his entire career and has seen Australia before so there’s really no reason for him to be here, especially as he isn’t concerned with catching up with his co-stars on the other side.’

MailOnline has contacted George’s representatives for comment.

The diva-like behaviour continued after Wednesday night’s show which saw George snub Babatúndé Aléshé’s homecoming party after he became the fifth celebrity to be axed from the show.

He was the only former campmate not to greet his co-star at the luxury Marriott hotel, refusing to join the friends and family that gathered to congratulate comedian Baba following his departure at the hotel reception, which has been a jungle tradition for years.

While George wasn’t present, Baba, 36, was welcomed home by his former campmates Charlene White, Scarlette Douglas, and Sue Cleaver, as well as the likes of Matt Hancock’s girlfriend Gina Coladangelo, who embraced him with a hug.

It’s fair to say George has won himself a reputation as a diva while in the jungle.

Not present: The diva-like behaviour continued after Wednesday night’s show which saw George snub Babatúndé Aléshé’s homecoming party

He infuriated his camp mates by meditating noisily through the night and has been caught bitching about his co-stars, mainly Matt Hancock.

In contrast to his evicted co-stars including Charlene White, Scarlette Douglas and Sue Cleaver, the Eighties icon does not feel obliged to continue supporting his campmates, having previously admitting to pals that he didn’t care when he was evicted and wasn’t signing up for the show to make friends.

He will now be staying at the JW Marriott Gold Coast hotel alongside the other evicted campmates and their friends and family, as well as his sister and nephew, who have joined him in Australia.

During his time in the jungle he accused his campmates of not ‘being themselves’ but when quizzed by Ant and Dec about who he was referring to, he refused to comment.

He also threatened to quit the show altogether when Hancock arrived, telling viewers if his unwell mother had passed during the pandemic, he would have walked from the series.

George said: ‘It’s difficult for me because, you know, had something happened, if my mum had gone, I would have gone when he walked in.’

George was in the Australian jungle for 18 days before finding himself in the bottom two alongside close friend, radio DJ Chris Moyles.

He reportedly banked the highest fee to appear on the series this year, earning a whopping £500,000 for his jungle stint.

The singer told hosts Ant and Dec on Tuesday that he was ‘happy’ to be leaving camp, adding: ‘I am so looking forward to getting back into control.’

He was the first contestant in the show’s history to customise the uniform celebrities are forced to wear, telling MailOnline ahead of entering the jungle that he didn’t seek permission from ITV to make the style adjustments.

George said: ‘Well, I didn’t ask permission. They sent me the hat and it was just too small. So I just chopped it up.

‘To be honest with you, you know, I got sent two shirts. I didn’t think I would get away with that. I just did it.’
