Boris Johnson watched No Time To Die at No 9 Downing Street on Thursday evening, the PA news agency understands.

Meanwhile, lobby briefings with political journalists were moved to a room in No 10 on both Thursday and Friday.

A No 10 spokesman said: “Yesterday the Prime Minister met with Pinewood Studios, Universal Pictures, Eon Productions and the BFI to congratulate them on the success of the latest James Bond instalment – a testament to the talent of British creative industry.

“An evening film screening took place for staff, who made voluntary donations, with all proceeds going to Sarcoma UK.”

Costs to make the screening happen were reportedly met by the companies involved. Similar film showings have taken place previously.

The White House-style press briefing room cost £2.6 million, as part of plans to hold daily televised press conferences led by Allegra Stratton, who was appointed as Boris Johnson’s press secretary.

But in April 2021, Downing Street scrapped its plans and moved Ms Stratton to the role of spokeswoman for the upcoming COP26 climate summit in Glasgow.

The press briefing room is used by the Government for major news conferences to keep the public informed during the coronavirus pandemic.

No Time To Die took more than £50 million at the UK box office after just two weekends on release – enough to already make it one of the top 10 highest-grossing 007 movies of all time.

The latest big screen instalment in the long-running spy series, which sees Daniel Craig play the famous secret agent for the last time, had made £52.7 million as of October 10.
