Boracay favorite Nonie's unveils first branch in Metro Manila
Nonie’s — a beloved culinary destination in Boracay Island known for its commitment to locally sourced, sustainably produced Filipino-inspired cuisine — has opened its newest location at Molito Lifestyle Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
This expansion marks a significant milestone for Nonie’s as it introduces its refreshed brand and culinary offerings to a wider audience in Metro Manila.
“This is our first branch outside Boracay. We looked around Manila and if we think about Boracay, one thing that’s a big learning for us that we didn’t really expect is the community aspect of Boracay. With Alabang and Molito, it felt familiar for us. Just taking baby steps since this is our first-time doing business outside of Boracay so we really liked the community aspect of the area. We know some people, some relatives living out here so we’re taking a big step,” Patrick Florencio, one of the visionaries behind Nonie’s, said in an interview.
“In Boracay you get customers come in and ask to bring it outside Boracay which is always nice, it’s quite flattering but you don’t really know how serious it is but I think we just hit the point where we felt we have something to offer in a different way. We’ve been open in Boracay for seven years so we’re giving it a try,” he added.
The Alabang location embodies the essence of Nonie’s, offering a warm, inclusive atmosphere with a touch of sophistication. Designed in collaboration with Geo Ward from local architectural firm IDC Design & Build, the space features a blend of laid-back island vibes and modern minimalist design elements, creating a welcoming environment for guests to enjoy their dining experience.
With the help of professional designers, Nonie’s is bringing its signature island vibe to Alabang with a more mature and modern look.
“We wanted to create a space that feels like an extension of our Boracay branch, with a nod to Filipino culture and craftsmanship. Our goal is to provide a comfortable and inviting setting where guests can savor our honest, hearty cuisine,” said Derrick Perez, head chef of Nonie’s.
Meanwhile, collaborating with branding expert Amanda Harbrow of Harbrow Creations in Australia, Nonie’s also embarked on a rebranding journey that resulted in a fresh new logo and visual identity, reflecting the brand’s maturity as it moves forward from the laidback island life to the hustle of Metro Manila.
The new logo retains the iconic mango icon while incorporating elements that resonate with Nonie’s updated aesthetic and market positioning.
Menu-wise, Nonie’s is also excited to introduce island favorites for its Alabang patrons, including signature dishes like their Cavite-style Chicken and Pork Adobo, 72-hour Crispy Pork Belly and Flame-grilled Chicken, and vegetarian-friendly Tempeh Kare-Kare made with their very own house-fermented tempeh in a luscious cashew sauce. The restaurant also has new creations developed specifically for the Alabang community.
“Our concept when we started in Boracay is just Filipino-inspired food. We do put a healthy twist to things, but we just try to highlight local Filipino ingredients in different ways. We try to use Filipino ingredients that aren’t being used that much in restaurants. We try to be as inclusive as we can, what we mean by that is if you’re vegan, if you’re gluten-free, we have a decent amount of options in each category. So if you’re on a date, if one person is vegan but the other person eats meat, there’s options for them,” Florencio enthused.
The new 35-seater Nonie’s location in Molito Lifestyle Center is pet-friendly and welcomes reservations for individuals or groups, as well as private functions.
The new location open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Saturday to Sunday to take care of cravings for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and everything in between.
