The Penn State Nittany Lions already have one of the most exciting college football backfields looking forward to the 2024 season with Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen. Head coach James Franklin is looking to keep his carousel of NFL-caliber backs rolling after receiving a commitment from a top-ten ball carrier in the 2025 college football recruiting class.

Four-star running back from Alabama, Alvin Henderson, visited the Nittany Lions in early April, and just one week later he locked in his commitment with the Big Ten powerhouse. Henderson told On3 that he envisions following the same path as so many elite Penn State running backs that came before him.

“My mom and I talked to Nick for 30 minutes,” Henderson told On3. “He told me that I am in the same situation that he was in and I have an opportunity because he and Kaytron could potentially be first round draft picks. Once they leave, he said it’s going to be open for a dude to come in and take the spot and coach [Ja’Juan] Seider can consider me to come take it. Once he told me that, that opened up my eyes.”

Henderson clocks in as the No. 10 player in Alabama, No. 110 overall prospect, and No. 7 running back in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. He joins Penn State after heavy interest from schools like the Auburn Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, Miami Hurricanes, and the Oregon Ducks.
