BMW 3.0 CSL expected in November with whopping pricetag

If you thought local pricing of the M4 CSL was steep, take a seat because the BMW 3.0 CSL will cost a whopping €750,000 (or roughly R13 million). The manual model will reportedly arrive in November in limited numbers.

BMW 3.0 CSL expected in November with whopping pricetag

On the back of the launch of the XM, M4 CSL and soon-to-be-revealed M2, the Bayerische Motoren Werke is preparing a special homage model to the original CSL nameplate: the BMW 3.0 CSL. This will form the pinnacle of the 50 Jahre of M celebrations that have been underway in full swing for the Bavarian-based automaker and reports claim that the heavily updated M4 CSL will be limited to a modest 50 units, hence the €750,000 (or roughly R13 million) price tag.

According to BMWBLOG, Europe will retain 30 models while 8 will arrive in Asia. An allocation for the remaining 12 is unconfirmed but the United States won’t be getting any so there is hope for one-percenters living in South Africa.

The BMW 3.0 CSL will strip itself of all protective camouflage in November when it will officially be unveiled to the world. Like the exterior, the inner workings of the 3.0 CSL will be based around the M4 CSL but will take things even further. The model is expected to weigh 1 550 kg, 175 kg lighter than the M4 Competition Coupe and 75 kg lighter than the M4 CSL. The S58 3,0-litre in-line six-cylinder motor will also be turned up and will pip the M4 CSL in terms of power too. Connecting the motor to the wheels will be an exclusive six-speed manual gearbox which if the driver is talented enough, will be able to propel the car to 100 km/h in 3,5 seconds which is actually quicker than the M4 CSL once again.

It is a steep price to pay for exclusivity but we hope the few BMW 3.0 CSLs produced will venture out onto the racetrack to strut their stuff like intended.
