Laura Dern says Taylor Swift 'cares about everything deeply' and gushes about their close friendship after starring in Bejeweled music video

Laura Dern opened up about her friendship with Taylor Swift on Saturday.

The Big Little Lies actress, 56, reflected on her friendship with the 34-year-old singer-songwriter and gushed about how her dear pal cares very ‘deeply’.

At the Environmental Media Association Awards Gala, the honoree was asked to divulge on something about Swift that her fans may not experienced and gave a heartfelt response.

Dern told People: ‘She cares about everything deeply, and I think people who love her know that.’

The five-time Golden Globe winner recently explained that she formed a ‘deep friendship’ with the musician after starring in her Bejeweled music video nearly two years ago.

Dern continued gushing about how Swift’s caring character comes through in her writing but she has also seen it firsthand as a close friend.

‘They know that in her writing and they know that in her heart and her activism — but it’s been incredible to know that as a friend too.’

Just earlier this month, Dern described Swift as a ‘superpower’ and said she values their friendship very much.

‘It’s one of my deep friendships and I love and admire her so much,’ she gushed about the 12-time Grammy winner to People at the red carpet premiere of Common Ground on January 11.

‘To find a friend amidst the creative, and she’s a superpower,’ she continued. ‘She’s incredible. So that’s been really fun.’

She also shared her thoughts on whether or not the music video helped expand her fanbase among Swifties.

‘I don’t know,’ she admitted. ‘I don’t know, but I’ll take it.’

Back in 2022, Dern played the evil stepmother alongside the Haim sisters as the stepsisters in Swift’s Bejeweled music video, which the singer had described as a ‘twist on a Cinderella story’.

She admitted that she signed on for the part when she was told she would get to call the Blank Space hitmaker a ‘tired, tacky wench’.

She told Entertainment Tonight in November 2022 that she agreed when Swift told her personally about the script she wrote for her music video.

‘Even better is when she’s speaking to you on the phone, asking you if there’s any way you could possibly be willing to say these words to her.’

‘Preceding the script, we were just talking on the phone about ideas [and] she’s like, “What if you called me…” I’m like, “I’m in, [I’m] definitely doing this”.

‘I am honored to be part of it,’ she continued. ‘And so excited for this amazing moment of triumphant success for her.’
