We’re expecting big Black Friday Chromebook deals this year, making it the ideal time to purchase one of these affordable Chrome OS-powered laptops. Over the past few years, Chromebooks have become incredibly popular, especially with students, as they offer great performance, huge battery lives and very tempting low prices.

So, when Black Friday 2021 hits on November 26, there will likely be some heavy discounts for Chromebooks from the likes of Google, Dell and HP. In fact, you may not even have to wait until Black Friday itself to get a killer Chromebook deal, as many retailers begin to cut prices early.

While Chromebooks have been growing in popularity recently, the global Covid-19 pandemic has made them even more essential. Thanks to their good performance and affordability, they’re great choices for people who are now working or learning from home more.

This means we could see some very competitive Black Friday Chromebook deals this year. As retailers cut their prices to get more sales, it’ll hopefully mean consumers have even more choice when Black Friday rolls around.

To make things as easy as possible, we’ll be listing all the best Black Friday Chromebook deals we find in the run up to the big day, and on November 26 itself. We’ll also give you all the information you need to ensure you’re as prepared as possible, so you don’t miss out on any fantastic deals.

What to expect from Black Friday Chromebook deals in 2021

Black Friday Chromebook deals are set to improve upon last year’s offers. While it was still possible to find a super cheap offer last year, sub-$200 / £200 prices were still on the table, the specs on offer weren’t nearly as valuable as those in similarly discounted models we’ve already spotted this year.

We’re seeing far more 14-inch and 15.6-inch Chromebooks with more powerful Intel N4000-series processors and 64GB of storage up for grabs at between $150 and $250 (£150 / £250) these days. Last year it was possible to pick up these display sizes with a similar level processor and 32GB of storage for a good price, but these discounts were few and far between – and rapidly sold out.

Black Friday Chromebook deals in 2021 are poised to offer much better value for money in this price range. We’re already seeing far more choice in the $100-$300 / £100-£300 price bracket, with specs offering 64GB of storage and more powerful Intel N4000-series processors, in 2021. Come November, we may see more discounts on models offering larger 128GB storage systems and premium 2-in-1 convertible displays as well.

Tips for buying a Chromebook on Black Friday

In a nutshell, Chromebooks are for you if you’re on the lookout for a machine that’s both fast and lightweight, but runs on the Chrome OS – not Windows 10 or macOS. Because this operating system is relatively lightweight (but still has everything you need for basic computing), it can actually run very speedily on relatively cheap hardware. Perfect if you don’t want to shell out for one of the best laptops.

This means Chromebooks are often much more affordable, and have longer battery lives, than Windows laptops and MacBooks, putting them among the best laptops for students.

Windows machines simply can’t offer the performance you’ll find in a Chromebook for the kinds of prices we regularly see on Chrome OS devices. A cheap Chromebook can cost less than $100 / £100 over Black Friday, and still offer enough horsepower for day to day tasks like browsing the internet, streaming, sending emails and taking notes.

You’ll be relying on the Google Chrome Web Store for your software, but certain Play Store apps can also be used. It’s worth noting that heavier software like Adobe and some Windows-based services aren’t available, though, so if you’re looking for something to run more demanding programs we’d recommend switching your focus to the best Black Friday laptop deals or Black Friday MacBook deals.

3 best Chromebooks to watch out for on Black Friday

Google’s own Pixelbook Go is an amazing laptop in its own right, and one of the best Chromebooks you can buy. One of its key features is its fantastic battery life, which outlasts many competing traditional laptops handily, so you can go a full day at work or school without being shackled to a wall outlet. Even better, you can close the lid, leave the Pixelbook Go on a desk for days, and come back to find it still has plenty of battery left to pick up right where you left off. Few if any Windows laptops or MacBooks can say the same. It’s now a few years old, which is why we think it could be a prime candidate for some big Black Friday deals in 2021.

Is it a Chromebook or is it a tablet? Well, luckily, you won’t have to decide with the brilliant Lenovo IdeaPad Duet Chromebook. True to its name, this Chromebook delivers two form factors in one. Its battery packs an incredibly long life of almost 22 hours – so you could pull an all-nighter, work through the day and mid-afternoon, and you’ll still pass out before it runs out of juice. It’s already very affordable, so for Black Friday we could see this Chromebook drop to some incredibly low prices.

The Lenovo ThinkPad C13 Yoga Chromebook shot straight into our best Chromebooks list when it was released. It offers excellent performance, and as a 2-in-1 device, it’s got the flexibility that many other Chromebooks lack, and the screen on this thing is stunning. It’s powered by AMD 3000C-series processors – starting with an Athlon 3150C and scaling all the way up to a Ryzen 7 3700C – and this means you’ll get more processing power out of this Chromebook than many of it’s competitors. For students especially, this is one of the best Chromebooks money can buy, and we could see some great price cuts on Black Friday.

Last year’s best Black Friday Chromebook deals

We managed to find a few excellent Black Friday Chromebook deals last year, but the range available was definitely reduced. As previously mentioned, demand far outweighed supply last year and the effects of shortages from the global pandemic were still being felt in November.

That meant that some of the low prices below ran out of stock incredibly quickly, though the speedy deal hunter could still find a strong offer if they were happy to pick up a cheaper chassis with fewer features.

In the US, Best Buy’s $129 price tag on a 14-inch HP Chromebook was a clear winner in the budget category, offering value that couldn’t be matched by other, more expensive, 11.6-inch models. However, the older Acer Chromebook 715 had perhaps the best discount of all.

A $250 saving left us with a $299 price on a machine with 128GB of storage and an Intel i3 processor. That’s an excellent offer even today, and similar to discounts we hope to see in Black Friday Chromebook deals 2021.

In the UK, savings were far more difficult to get your hands on. Our cheapest pick was a £199.99 11.6-inch HP model that didn’t even receive a discount at Amazon, it was simply one of the cheapest models on the shelves last year. Instead, we saw far better savings in the mid-range. The Acer R13 2-in-1 Chromebook, for example, took a £50 discount down to £349 and the Asus Flip C433 was £100 off at £399.

Again, we expect 2021’s Black Friday Chromebook deals to improve upon these prices come November, as we’ve already seen similar specs dropping to far lower prices this year.
