Bisschen weniger als erhofft: 220'000 Eintritte an der Olma in St. Gallen

Die Olma, die Schweizer Messe für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung, ist bis am Sonntag von rund 220’000 Personen besucht wurden. Die Leitung zeigte sich zufrieden und sprach von einer «besonders schönen Olma».

Die einzigartige, lange vermisste Olma-Stimmung sei vom ersten Tag an endlich wieder da gewesen, schrieben die Veranstalter in ihrer Mitteilung vom Sonntag. Die anfängliche Unsicherheit sei schnell «einem fröhlichen, gelösten Gefühl» gewichen.

Die Olma-Leitung hatte beim Start der Messe am 7. Oktober angekündigt, dass sie wegen der Einschränkungen durch die Pandemie auf etwa zwei Drittel der üblichen Besucherzahl – also rund 240’000 Personen – hoffe. Nun waren es 220’000 Besucherinnen und Besucher. 2019 waren für die zehn Olma-Tage 360’000 Eintritte gezählt worden.

Für den Eintritt brauchte es ein Covid-Zertifikat. Die Prognosen über die Zahl der Eintritte war deshalb mit verschiedenen Unsicherheiten verbunden. Dazu gehörte das vom Bundesrat beschlossene Ende der Gratis-Tests nach den ersten vier Olma-Tagen. Ab dem 11. Oktober musste dafür bezahlt werden.

Schon am ersten Wochenende erwies sich eine erste Vermutung als falsch: Es hatte keinen Ansturm von Besucherinnen und Besuchern auf die Testzentren gegeben, die noch vom Gratis-Angebot profitieren wollten. Auch danach gab es keine Veränderungen: Der befürchtete Einbruch bei den täglichen Besucherzahlen blieb aus.

Die Kosten für die Tests spielten für das Olma-Publikum offensichtlich keine so grosse Rolle, hatte ein Olma-Sprecher bereits am Donnerstag gegenüber Keystone-SDA erklärt. Übers Ganze blieb die Nachfrage nach Tests unter den Erwartungen; um die 1000 Menschen liessen sich laut den Veranstaltern täglich testen.

Die Olma und der wegen der Pandemie in einer Light-Version durchgeführte Herbst-Jahrmarkt seien ohne grössere Zwischenfälle zu Ende gegangen, meldete am Sonntag die St. Galler Stadtpolizei. Sie musste über ein Dutzend Mal wegen Auseinandersetzungen ausrücken.

Fünf Mal wollten Personen über einen Zaun in den Lunapark gelangen – dort galt wie in den Olma-Hallen die Zertifikatspflicht. Die fünf Personen wurden mit einer Fernhaltung bis zum Ende der Olma belegt. Dass weniger Besucher als in früheren Jahren anreisten, zeigte sich auch an der vergleichsweise deutlich tieferen Zahl von Parkbussen.
